Monsoon, the seasonal wind that brings rain and heat across the Indian subcontinent, has long been a source of wonder and mystery across the region. In art, however, Monsoon has mostly been represented as a scene of heavy rain and dark skies. This limited portrayal of Monsoon as a single, static image ignores the complex nature of the weather phenomenon and its impact on the lives of people across the region. It also ignores the ways in which Monsoon manifests itself in the arts.
