Graphics to alter your mind
Psychedelic design is a style that uses elements from nature and science in order to create an aesthetic that is intended to evoke feelings of wonder, awe and mystery. It’s a subgenre of psychedelic art that uses color schemes based on natural elements such as grasses or plants. The color palette typically consists of greens, blues and oranges mixed with white tones. Psychedelic designs are commonly used in logos because they give off a sense of energy while also representing your brand’s identity through bold colors and shapes
Psychedelic art is a visual style that uses the imagery of psychedelic states to evoke an altered state of consciousness in the viewer. It’s characterized by exaggerated colors and geometric patterns, often overlaid with complex imagery. The term “psychedelia” was coined in the 1950s by Alex Comfort who wrote about “remote viewing” and other experiences like teleportation, telepathy and out-of-body experiences as part of his research into LSD. These ideas have since been incorporated into contemporary graphic design practices through Applied Kinesiology (AK), which is based on scientific principles published by Dr R F Schenk back in 1927!
Psychedelic graphic design has been around since the 1960s, when Alexey Brodovitch created psychedelic layouts for Time magazine and LIFE magazine. In the 1970s and 80s psychedelic art became more popular in Europe with its influence spreading across America soon after (most notably through musicians like Jimmy Hendrix).
Psychedelic design is used in many industries to attract attention. This can be seen in the advertising industry, where psychedelic art is used as a way to get your message across. It has been reported that psychedelic art has been used on products such as cell phones, clothing, textiles and more. Psychedelic design can be found in logos. These designs are used for various purposes, such as branding or promotion. Some companies use psychedelic art to promote their products; others use it to convey a message that they want you to remember.
In order for a product or service to succeed in today’s market place it needs something different about them which makes them stand out from the crowd. Psychedelic design helps companies achieve this by using design elements such as bright colours and shapes that look unusual compared with other products on offer at the time.
How to use psychedelic in your designing
If you’re designing something like an album cover or other object that has other purposes besides just looking cool, then it might make sense to include some psychedelia into it. Most importantly though? Don’t use too much of it! It’s okay if some designs look like they’ve been Photoshopped with psychedelic filters; but too many will just give off an impression that could come across as tacky or gimmicky rather than cool and unique.
It’s now your turn to create a beautiful layout for your next project or even help someone else with their own design project!
